Welfare Activity of International Vedanta Society

The devotees of International Vedanta Society, Kolkata distributed clothes among the needy on 22nd January in a village .  It was a great success and everyone were extremely contended and happy.  We are looking forward to some more activities….  jai bhagavan….


The 148th Birth Anniversary of Swami Vivekananda

The 148th Birth anniversary of Swami Vivekananda was celebrated with much funfair by the members and well wishers of International Vedanta Society. Started with the Hare Krishna Mahamantra at 6 O’clock in the morning which continued till 12.30 of the noon with various spiritual cum cultural program in between. Around 11 the organization carried out welfare activity among the down trodden people of the society by distributing clothes among them. Around 1 O’clock innumerable people were distributed Prasad at the ashram premises. The evening program was also scheduled at the ashram, which started with Guru Bandhana, chanting of Vedic Hymns. Thereafter the vice president of I.V.S Mr. Pradip Roy highlighted the life of swamiji and his workings for Vedanta. He concluded the speech by highlighting the dream of swamiji which was preaching Vedanta to every nook & corner of the world. After completion of his speech the treasurer and the organizing secretary of the central committee of I.V.S, Swami Prahaladananda & Swami Apurvananda presented there one about Vedanta. Finally the program was concluded with the chanting of Hare Krishna Mahamantra by the guests and members present there.


70th Birth Anniversary of Sri Bhagavan in Guwahati

The 70th birth Anniversary of Sri Bhagavan was celebrated with much fun, joy & gaiety by the members and well wishers of International Vedanta Society (I.V.S). The women’s wing of the I.V.S carried out welfare activities among the down trodden people of the society.On the 3rd of January in the morning at 7 A.M a huge procession comprising innumerable trucks,cars and light vehicles were taken out.The procession touched Adabari Tiniali, Pandu, Bharalumukh, Kachari, Dighalipukhuri, Panbazar, Paltanbazar, A.T road & ended at Maligaon.Innumerable people were distributed prasad at the ashram premises at Amingaon in afternoon.From 5 P.M in the evening a special spiritual cum cultural program was organised at the Harihar Bhavan at Maligaon chariali.The program started with Guru Bandhana and chanting of Vedic hymns.Thereafter the Organizing Secretary of the central committee Swami Apurvananda , Vice President Mr.Pradeep Kumar Roy and many other prominent dignitaries spoke at lenght on the life & teachings of Sri Bhagavan.Devotional songs & dance were rendered by prominent artists which were enjoyed by one & all.The program was conclude with a nice speech by the Treasurer of the central committee Swami Prahladananda Puri & finally the HARE KRISHNA mahamantra by the Guests & members present there.It may be noted that Sri Bhagavan’s birth anniversary was celebrated besides Guwahati at Kolkata,Varanasi,Bongaigaon, London,Barcelona, Buenos Aires, Holland & many other countries of the world with much joy and fanfare.
